Our yummy story destination is back and this time we headed to Walnut Beach Creamery in Milford, CT. We’ve been waiting for Walnut Beach Creamery to open since they closed for the season because this creamery has become our favorite destination for ice cream. When their website said that Saturday, April 27th was the opening day, we showed up ready to enjoy their ice cream.
The Walnut Beach Creamery opened in 2007 in the old Walnut Beach Post Office. Their mission is to make every batch of ice cream by hand with a single batch freezer and using the best and freshest ingredients. The flavors change all the time and even though the flavor is listed, make sure to check before you visit.
There are plenty to choose from and this time I decided to try the Persian Rose along with the Dulce de Leche – a blend of light caramel ice cream with homemade pecan pralines and dulce de leche cream. When you add their fresh made waffle cone to that, it is pure heaven. Our girls decided on the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough while Hubby opted for his favorite Nutty Yankee – a blend of almond, dried cranberries and coconut.
Since Walnut Beach Creamery is close by the beach, the girls were begging to go but the weather, on the other hand, was not cooperative. It was cold so we skipped the beach this time around.
That did not stop us from enjoying the view and our ice cream. Needless to say, we did not stay too long because it was super cold even though our youngest asked us why she couldn’t go in the water. It’s all about perspective.
I live for those WELLthy MOMents when we can enjoy family time and make yummy memories. As you may guess, Walnut Beach Creamery gets 5 Yummy Yes from us and we are glad to share another yummy destination with you.
I normally order my ice cream in a cup but the waffle cones here are phenomenal. There are fresh, not too crunchy, not too soft, just right.
