The Power of a Praying Mom

The Power of a Praying MomThe power of a praying mom stems from knowing that prayer is the essence of our faith walk as Christians. Christianity is based on a relationship with God and every great relationship is established and maintained through great communication. Prayer thus opens up the communication line between us and God for His will to be done in our lives on earth as it is in heaven.

As moms, prayer is one of the greatest gifts we can ever give our children because our faith is fundamentally based on an ever growing relationship with God trusting Him to lead us as we lead our children. Prayer takes various forms but ultimately the art of praying is to increasingly release us and our children into God’s capable hands.
A disciplined prayer life enables us to build a Response-Ability factor when it comes to God trusting us to do what He called us to do. God teaches us by grace through faith that what happens on earth depends on us because in the words of  John Wesley:” Without God, man cannot an without man God will not!”
The power of a praying mom encourages us to relate our motherhood journey to God and give Him permission to interfere not just when we need Him to but before we need Him to. Christ is a great example of leaning on the Father during His time on earth to sustain Him through both good and bad times. Christ shows us that the value of prayer is not whether or not our prayer is answered but rather that prayer keep us in continual communication with the only One who can help us stay the course.
The Power of a Praying MomThe power of a praying mom helps us to recognize God as intimately present and to address ourselves and our children to Him every moment. I read not too long ago a principle which in hindsight can reflect the importance of a praying mom. All things in motherhood are possible to the mom who believes. They are less difficult to the mom who hopes. They are easier to the mom who loves. And they are easiest to the mom who perseveres in the practice of all three virtues with prayer to submit her motherhood journey to God’s standards, rather than her own.
As we prepare to celebrate Mother’s Day, I pray that we get a fresh revelation of who God has called us to be as moms. We have been entrusted with a task that seems so overwhelming and burdensome at times. However we have a Father in Heaven whose heart is to take the heavy lifting from us. He has not called us to be frustrated, impatient, uninvolved, passive, short-tempered or overwhelmed. He wants to usher us into a motherhood that is fulfilling being loving, joyful, peaceful, soft-hearted, warm, affirming, affectionate, consistent, dependable, gentle and patient.
The power of a praying mom is to pass a spiritual inheritance to our children with eternity in mind that can withstand any wind, any earthquake or any fire that wants to disrupt their identity, purpose and hope in Christ. Prayer is our weapon to get a fresh vision daily in order to stay the course and win this prize of strong, courageous and confident children who grow to be world changers!
