Our family fun experience at Smuggler’s Notch is the family experience you can’t pass when you visit America’s family resort. Smuggler’s Notch prides itself for being the best vacation value for family fun and their Family FunZone is indeed a next dimension in family fun from classic fun in the arcade to challenging each other in laser tag, ping-pong, mini-golf, air hockey, foosball, wall climbing and the ultimate Smuggs Ninja Warrior obstacle course. There’s definitely something for everyone in their 26,000 square-foot indoor playground and that’s one experience you do not want to miss during your stay.
Smuggs offers fun family activities outdoors every season and we couldn’t pass the opportunity to give their 18-hole Disc golf a try when we visited during the summer. Featuring Brewster Ridge and Fox Run Meadow, Smugglers’ Notch Disc Golf Center is internationally recognized as being one of the top disc golf destinations and after we experienced it, we can totally see why.
We caught a shuttle bus ride from our condo to Smuggler’s Notch Golf and Outdoor Center located at the Arbor Trek for our very first Disc Golf experience. According to Disc Golf Association, disc golf is similar to traditional golf, however, instead of using golf clubs and balls aiming for a hole, disc golf players use disc golf discs and aim for a disc golf basket which is a pole extending up from the ground with chains and a basket where the disc lands. The object of the game is to complete each hole in the fewest number of throws, starting from a tee area and finishing with the disc coming to rest in the basket.
The weather was perfect to enjoy the outdoors and get a good laugh while challenging each other. Our family managed to finish our 9-hole course but we were having too much fun to keep score. Disc golf is one of the best lifetime fitness sports. It is easy to learn, a healthy activity, and accessible to families of all ages and fitness levels.
Another highlight in our family fun experience at Smuggler’s Notch was our very first llama trekk with Northern Vermont Llama Company and their very bright and unique llamas. We love to hike as a family so a hike in the woods with llamas to explore the natural beauty of Vermont surrounding the resort was a lifetime experience we will never forget.
The amazing mother and son duo from Northern Vermont Llama Company were very knowledgeable and showed us how to be gentle with the llamas. They were very gracious in answering the tons of questions we all had about the llamas and we now understand why llamas are outstanding pack animals and their peaceful disposition makes them excellent hiking companions.
We came prepared with water, a light lunch and snacks which the llamas carried the entire hike which gave us plenty of opportunities to interact with the llamas and get to know Ebony the youngest one, Solo and Robin (my favorite). We enjoyed the leisurely pace and during the break, the owner and her son treated us to a wonderful picnic by treating us to refreshing beverages and Vermont’s own Ben&Jerry’s ice cream while the llamas rested and we got the chance to sit and relax before resuming the hike.
Our family fun experience at Smuggler’s Notch was one experience we will never forget. We are simply thankful for the memories and the opportunity to connect and recharge as a family over fun family activities. These are the moments! These are the memories! This is why we love our stay at Smuggler’s Notch!
