Our family travel to Jamestown in North Carolina was part of our summer road trip to visit my parents. The beautiful and quaint town of Jamestown is located in Guilford County, North Carolina, and is a suburb of the nearby cities of Greensboro and High Point. The almost ten hour drive from Connecticut was one we were looking forward to because that gives us an opportunity as a family to create and collect #WELLthyMOMents.
Named in honor of James Mendenhall and founded in 1816, Jamestown was the earliest continuing settlement in the Piedmont region. A rich and varied history is the foundation for Jamestown today, which prides itself on protecting and enhancing our natural, cultural and historic resources for all to enjoy.
We left early in the morning to drive to Maryland and stay with my best friend overnight as our needed mid-way stop. We took off the following morning and arrived on a gorgeous afternoon for our family travel to Jamestown in North Carolina. It was so wonderful to hug my parents and the dog Jelly. The girls didn’t waste any time going on adventure in the backyard.
Our family travel to Jamestown in North Carolina consisted of visiting Jamestown Public Library where my mom is an active volunteer and even displays her beautiful “made with love” quilts. The library was established in 1988 and the magnificent building makes you want to get lost in the endless selection of books. We visited the day where the library was hosting a book sale and we left with some reading treasures.
Babygirl’s birthday fell on the Saturday after we arrived and her request was to celebrate her fifth birthday with her grand-parents and family. We enjoyed her favorite dinner with cupcakes and ice cream. We followed up with a movie night and lots of giggles in between. We left early Sunday to pick up Hubby’s mom who was visiting from Barbados and was attending a Women’s conference in Salem.
There is nothing like enjoying your family on a trip and we had plenty of that on our family travel to Jamestown in North Carolina. Our girls were in heaven having my parents and Hubby’s mom under one roof and I went to bed that night thankful for the opportunity to create family memories whenever we can. We left Jamestown on Monday with an overnight stop in Maryland and resumed our family travel back to Connecticut with my mother-in-love.
We already missed being in Jamestown and look forward to visiting my parents soon. If you ever get the chance to visit Jamestown, make sure to make time to visit the gorgeous parks and almost 3 square miles of small town charm with minutes from the bustling Triad region. Jamestown’s commitment to well-planned, quality development strikes a balance between maintaining community character and heritage and preserving our cherished natural, cultural and historic resources. Our family travel to Jamestown in North Carolina was exactly what our family needed.
