When the not so Spring Connecticut weather makes you long for your family travel to Siesta Beach in Florida because for us family time and beach destination spell WELLthy MOMents. Enjoying its reputation as one of America’s Best Beaches, Siesta Beach is made famous by its sugar-fine, quartz-white sand and with a short walk from the public beach is a village of outdoor dining, coffee shops and shopping.
We visited my sister over Christmas break and when she told us that Siesta Beach has been continuously nominated one of the best beaches to visit year after year, our family couldn’t wait to experience it. We packed for our day at the beach and we realized upon arriving that there’s no shortage of family activities at Siesta Beach.
Siesta Beach is absolutely breathtaking beach destination. Its sand is 99 percent quartz and feels like confectioners’ sugar. The pale, translucent blue-green water, similar to that of the Caribbean is absolutely stunning. You’ll also find free parking and a nearby playground for the kids. Siesta Beach is not only long, but also expansively wide, especially around the Siesta Key Beach Pavilion section.
Our family travel to Siesta Beach continued with our family heading to nearby Siesta Key Village, a charming, beachy village filled with about 100 stores, restaurants, ice cream parlors, and fun points of interest. Siesta Key Village is a small enough area to explore by foot. We enjoyed exploring and rewarded ourselves with some treats from Meaney’s Mini Donut.
Meaney’s Mini Donut walk-up window in Siesta Key Village offers perfectly formed mini-doughnuts rolled off an assembly line into a fryer, a doughnut attendant scoops them out of the piping-hot oil and coats them in the topping of your choice. The light, almost beignet-like little treats are totally addictive. Best bet: the strawberry cheesecake, featuring cream cheese frosting topped with strawberry jam.
We are definitely counting the days when we will return because our family travel to Siesta Beach in Florida left us wanting more of that sand and salt water mood. In the meantime back to reality to our up and down Spring Connecticut weather and dreaming of our family travel to Siesta Beach!
