We have heard so much about Ferris Acres Creamery in Newtown, CT that the gorgeous Saturday weather inspired us to make it our yummy story destination choice. We have been due for a trip to Ferris Acres Creamery for a while. Ferris Acres Creamery is a family business with three generations involved which we were looking forward to review.
Ferris Acres Creamery provides a venue where customers can enjoy a view that includes farm animals, pastures and fields while tasting made-on-the-farm frozen desserts. Their premium ice cream is made fresh daily in their shop and many of the flavors are their own family recipes.
They have regular and special flavors like Cake Batter, a favorite part of the cake, with usually rainbow sprinkles but my middle daughter decided she’d rather have crushed Oreos instead; Cookie Jar, a Vanilla ice cream with fudge swirls, mini chocolate chips and chunks of chocolate chip cookies which made Babygirl a happy toddler; Paradise Found, a Coconut ice cream, mixed with fudge swirls and almonds, Hubby’s choice and new favorite flavor.
Today’s Specials included my all time favorite, Rum Raisin. I can honestly say it’s the best Rum Raisin I have tasted and it reminded me so much of Barbados Rum Raisin, to Hubby’s delight because he is from Barbados and I love my Barbados Rum Raisin.
Their menu also includes Sorbet with flavors like Passion Fruit, Peach, Mango, Strawberry Lemonade or even Dairy Free sorbet made on premises. They also carry no sugar added, using Splenda for sweetener.
Their premium milkshakes are made with the exact ice cream they scoop from their regular flavors or any of the specials they have that day! Milkshakes are made with whole milk, but a low-fat option is available. Their basic shakes are made with their soft serve! They have many flavors available, but you can also make it your own and add in any of their toppings! The shakes are made with whole milk but a low-fat option is available. They also have Ice Cream Cookies and Sundaes from any combination you can imagine.
Each of us gave Ferris Acres Creamery one delighted Yummy Yes, which gives today’s Yummy Story Destination choice a total of 5 Yummy Yes! We are definitely planning to return but until then, if you happen to be in Newtown, CT, make your way to Ferris Acres Creamery and have a yummy experience on us.
