Hydrate Adventurously
Enjoy hydrating foods and beverages to increase your water intake throughout the day. They will fill you up and provide necessary nutrients. I drink one glass of fruit infused water because they taste amazing and they’re made with super healthy ingredients or apple cider vinegar water first thing in the morning before breakfast to help you detoxify or lose weight or 30 minutes before a meal to help digestion. Also it’s a great habit to drink water an hour after the meal to allow the body to absorb the nutrients.
Eat A Balanced Breakfast
Mornings tend to revolve around habits, so breakfast makes a great opportunity to incorporate whole grains, fresh fruit, and protein into a day that starts with good choices. Eating a balanced breakfast helps keep your metabolism running and is vital to loading up your system with healthy nutrients you’ll use throughout the day. By making breakfast ahead to take with you or save you time in the morning, you’re making sure you never head into a nutrient deficit, and instead head into the day ready to conquer it!
Be A Smart Snacker
Eating a snack or two between meals can curb hunger. Snacking can also help you get in all the nutrients you need. On the flip side, grazing all day, particularly on foods of little nutritional value, may result in you eating too much and packing on extra pounds. The key is taking a smart approach to snacking.
Grocery Shop Smarter
Strategize your grocery shopping expedition by educating yourself on the most money saving, healthiest options. Read the nutritional labels of the packaged foods you eat for an entire day. When we remove things from our diet, we feel deprived so enhancing our diet with a variety is key.
Say Yes To Home-Cooked Meals
It may seem simple, but whipping up your own meals at home can be a major tool when it comes to adjusting your health habits. Family meals matter and have a way of bringing families together around the dinner table. All it takes is a little planning and a simple delicious meal to share and you have a yummy formula to create memories from your kitchen to your table.
Eat Less Processed Meats
Many processed meats contain nitrates, implicated in cancer. The compounds formed by browning or charring meat, poultry, and fish are linked to disease. You don’t need to give up meat entirely, though. Use meat for flavor instead of filler. Go meatless one night a week and go for fish once in a while.
Eat More Whole Food
Eating more whole foods increases your consumption of fiber and complex carbohydrates and cuts your intake of sugars, refined carbs, and salt which help in your fit life journey. Whole foods nourish your bodies, have no artificial ingredients, are nutritious, contain fiber primarily found in whole fruits, whole grains and vegetables and provide essential nutrients that help reduce the risk of many major chronic diseases.
Be Portion Aware
Even though you may know what makes a healthy meal, it’s still possible to eat too much of a good thing. Learn what reasonable portions look like. Find clever ways of sticking with right-size portions. Use smaller plates. Read and heed nutrition labels.
Eat Out More Creatively
Eating out takes a bit of creativity when it comes to stick to healthy eating resolutions but glad to see that more restaurants are embracing healthy variety so make the most of each restaurant outing by choosing wisely. We are enjoying exploring food from all over the world and various cultures and we love our yummy story destinations with our girls.
Indulge Responsibly
A healthy approach to eating includes the right to satisfy that part of the soul that craves butter, chocolate, and cheese, in modest portions. I love our family tradition of Sweet Saturdays when we indulge into a sweet treat or freshly farm made ice cream. Small, smart indulgences go a very long way toward enjoyment.
We are all inspired in the new year to live a healthier lifestyle so I hope these 10 Easy healthy eating resolutions for WELLthy living can improve your everyday life because not only does eating well gives you more energy, it improves your moods, and extends your lives to enjoy all that the new year has in store.
