Our food adventure to Plant City in Providence, Rhode Island, was all thanks to a cashier at Whole Foods supermarket. As the young man started ringing my grocery, he started telling about his journey to eat vegan. I explained to him that even though my daughter is vegan, I am an occasional vegan. I enjoy plant based food as my cue to let my digestive system rest.
He was so excited about sharing his journey and we started talking about the various vegan restaurants we know. Plant City was his ultimate vegan food destination and those who know me know that a family adventure to Rhode Island was already in the work. Spring Break was the perfect opportunity to get out of town.

Our food adventure to Plant City started off with us getting familiar with all 3 restaurants at Plant City. It’s important to know that after you are seated, your table contains the menus from all 3 restaurants because Plant City prides itself in being a food hall and you the guest are in for a treat.
New Burger is a plant-based and vegan American bistro & bar for the modern world. Located on the first floor of Plant City, the comfortable booths and variety of tables wrap around a craft beer bar perfect for viewing sporting events in style. Classic comfort foods are elevated with the freshest ingredients into scratch-made dishes that remain accessible to all ages.
Double Zero is named for the 00 grade of flour used in traditional Italian pizza, Double Zero features creative plant-based and vegan Italian dishes and a wine list featuring organic and bio-dynamic wines. The warm, open dining room is perched on the second floor of Plant City with panoramic views of the Providence River and skyline and features a wrap-around bar overlooking our wood fired pizza hearth.
Besina is for the Spanish words for kiss and kitchen (beso + cocina), Besina offers Mexican-inspired plant-based cuisine crafted with love and intention. Centered around a wrap-around island bar with an extensive trove of tequila and mezcal, the window-lit dining room offers scenic views of the Providence River and skyline. Enjoy the creative cocktail menu and fresh fare.
Now that you are familiar with the way things work from a menu stand point, we welcome you on our food adventure to Plant City. We started with Guacamole from Besina which we inhaled in no time. Next we all dived in their delicious Kale Caesar from New Burger. Our two youngest rave about their Barbeque Burger served on a house-made bun and with Plant City fries and beet ketchup. The burgers contain beets, carrots, walnuts, mushrooms, kidney beans, brown + white rice, salt, paprika, and gluten-free flour.
Our oldest, the vegan, shared the Buffalo Chicken Pizza from Double Zero with me. The crispy tofu bites, Buffalo sauce, Cashew blue cheese dressing, and Celery bits were everything to make any skeptic embrace tofu in their diet. We quench our thirst, after water of course, with their Ginger Buck drink. Our food adventure to Plant City was the perfect way to end our girls’ Spring Break and we highly recommend families to experience it for themselves!
