Our Hiking Adventures to Great Hollow Lake is one that we enjoy often whenever anytime of the year because exploring Great Hollow is so filled with adventures. We discovered Great Hollow Lake a few years back when the girls were little and we were looking for a place nearby to enjoy the outdoors without making their little feet tired.
This 0.8-mile loop trail near Monroe, Connecticut is generally considered an easy route. It takes an average of 15 minutes to complete. This is a popular trail for fishing and walking but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day on benches all around the lake. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime of the year.
Great Hollow Lake, according to Wikipedia, is approximately 16 acres in size and is a part of William E. Wolfe Park, located inĀ Monroe, Connecticut. The lake includes a trout park with approximately 700 feet of beach, playground and facilities. Fishing, swimming and non-motorized boating are all permitted.
Our Hiking Adventures to Great Hollow Lake is always a treat and last fall, the breathtaking foliage all around the lake was the motivation we needed to go hiking and enjoy the scenic view. The weather was perfect that day to walk at our pace and take in the beauty of Fall in Connecticut. We had the view of the lake the entire hike and I love the fact that the hike sometimes turns into an impromptu play date with other children joining our girls.
Connecticut offers so many great hiking spots for families that we make time to explore all through the year and of course weather permitting. The outdoors and the fresh air in the beautiful Connecticut nature are such great motivators to get out and get moving.
Great Hollow Lake offers a playground that our girls love to enjoy at their leisure. The playground has some new additions that offer some fun obstacles for young ones to challenge themselves. We are intentional in scheduling family time to connect with each other and nature. Great Hollow Lake gives us both and why we keep coming back whenever we get the chance.
