Our hiking adventures to Sticks and Stones Farm happened last Fall when our family stumbled upon this hidden gem on a drive in one of Connecticut many amazing scenic roads. The drive brought us to the 60-acre natural space in Newtown CT featuring its landmark Stone Barn, an organic community garden we found out that is managed by Real Food Share, a non-profit organization with a mission to help end food insecurity in Newtown by donating all of the fresh produce to local food banks, unique rustic cabins that are available for rent during the summer and beautiful hiking trails that compels visitors to slow down and leave the hurried pace behind.
Our hiking adventures to Sticks and Stones Farm had us happily explore last fall and its surroundings to our heart’s content and vowed to return to Sticks and Stones Farm as this gem of a place brought out the naturalists and environmentalists in us. We returned this Spring to our daughters’ delight. The trail called us with the girls leading the way.
We then made our way inside the Stone Barn as we continued our hiking adventures to Sticks and Stones Farm and discovered on the website that the farm hosts various events each month and their Twilight Time Concert Series that features original songs by talented local musicians was the day we planned to visit. We had the pleasure to meet some of the wonderful people who are part of helping Sticks and Stones build compassionate peaceful communities in Newtown.
We encourage families in every hiking adventure we have to get out and explore together. We definitely want you to plan a visit to Sticks and Stones because there is definitely something for everyone. The farm lovingly opens its doors year-round to the public. All they ask is that visitors leave a donation for trail maintenance and for the priceless moments and memories families are sure to create, that’s one way to pay it forward!
