Tired and Tried Mommy Chronicles

Tired and Tried Mommy ChroniclesTired and Tried Mommy Chronicles were the story of my life last week.  Mommy life has a way to throw you lemons to see how you will respond because last week was one of those trying weeks. Our family was looking forward to Maker Day at Discovery Museum on Presidents’ Day.  I was confident that at the end of that particular day, we will be talking excitedly about all the wonderful STEM memories.

Babygirl woke up with a fever the day before Presidents’ Day so that night was rough because she did not leave my side. Hubby and I woke up around 9 am to find that our very eager oldest two had already had breakfast, bathed, dressed and couldn’t wait to get to the museum when it opened at 10 am. They were a bit disappointed when we let them know that they would only be able to get there around 12 pm because we needed some time to recover from the previous night.

Tired and Tried Mommy Chronicles continued with a rough week because Babygirl clung to me as if she was afraid I would vanish somehow. I was tired and tried but I realized that it was her way to seek comfort. I had plans to cook dinner one afternoon while Babygirl took her nap but that day she wanted to hold my hand while she slept. When I tried to move an inch, she would wake up.  I was tired and tried so I ask God to have mercy on me!

I had plans to enjoy the outdoors with my children in the gorgeous Spring-like day we had last week but that didn’t happen because my whole week was off from tired and tried Mommy Chronicles and so the girls and I found ourselves running errands instead.  I was tired and tried so I asked God to have mercy on me!

Tired and Tried Mommy Chronicles would not let off as I had plans to write a new post on my blog one particular day after my children went to bed but that didn’t happen because I ended up falling asleep on the couch instead.  I was tired and tried so I asked God to have mercy on all of us as I got up around midnight to lay my exhausted self to sleep!

Tired and Tried Mommy ChroniclesI look back now to my tired and tried Mommy Chronicles and wonder what happened to all the plans I had made.  After I finished blaming it on everything and everyone, I had this revelation: the word TIRED and TRIED consist of the same letters.  However, the difference is that the I in Tired changes to R in Tried.  That difference is what makes us or break us. When the emphasis on our plans is on “I” as in our own doing instead of “R” as in rest in God, we are setting ourselves up for frustration when things don’t go according to plan.

Tired and Tried Mommy Chronicles happen and sometimes we must let go of the plans we have for peace sake.  It does not mean that we have failed, rather that we did the best we could with what we had.  I am learning that I may not be able to control my circumstances but I am able to control my response to the circumstances.  So as we go about our day to day, let’s remember one important thing: we are but one person!

When I saw this quote, I knew I wanted to share:”When life gives you lemons, make grape juice.  Then sit back and watch as the world wonders how you did it.”  This is the kind of mommy perspective I love.  How we respond to situations tell us more about ourselves than the circumstances.  Sometimes it’s best to stop and remember that moms also need to rest.  When Hubby walked in the door one day last week, he saw my tired and tried face and proceeded to rescue his babies from this Mamazilla and sent me off to a much needed rest time.  I went in the bedroom, locked the door and took a much needed nap.

We care so much for others that we forget that the most important investment we can make is self-care!  As a working mom, it’s imperative to take care of myself so that I can care for my three girls who constantly need my attention.

When it gets too much, a trip to the bathroom is necessary, even if I do not need to use the bathroom.  I make sure to announce that Maman wants some alone time and when my girls hear the announcement, they know enough by now not to come near the bathroom for fear of Maman’s wrath.  Some days, I take them out for a walk or drive to the park to get some fresh air, even in the winter season, to allow myself to take a deep breath because nature has a way to recharge my mommy tank.

Tell me mamas, what are some ways you respond to tired and tried Mommy Chronicles?  Make sure to comment below and let me know as I am always looking for ways to make grape juice out of lemons:)  Bisous and Happy Monday!!

  1. AHH I hear you LOUD and clear. I’m a SAHM of 4 or as I call myself the CEO of the Household. If I don’t put things in check here it everything will crumble! lol.. For me when I get stressed I take a run. I grab my running stroller for my youngest and go. It’s my way to release. I start walking and jog then one fast run. IT feels so amazing and helps me clear my mind and go in for another round lol.

  2. When peace is your top priority, I agree, you have to let some things go. Its crazy how life will make other things seem more important but time with family and peaceful moments are what life is all about.

  3. I love this! We tried but we tired…everyday I have grand plans and something or sometimes everything gets put off and I’m not a procrastinator! Just Momma life 🙂 God bless sweet Momma!

We would love to hear from you!
