Why Every Mom Needs A Mom Mentor is my story a few years ago when I lived Titus 2:3-4 in action and I am truly grateful for moms who take time to mentor others. Titus 2:3-4 states:”Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children.”
Why Every Mom Needs A Mom Mentor is that one particular tough mom day, I was having one of those “I really need some me time” moments so I took my tired and tried self to one of my favorite stores for some shopping therapy. It was a great feeling to stroll without the kids. As I was taking my sweet little time looking at clothes at that store, I came across this lady who was admiring the same coat I was looking at. We both commented on the coat and how much we like the clothes from this store.
Why Every Mom Needs A Mom Mentor is the difference maker in our mom journey, especially when she started telling me about her experience as a mother of two college girls. She shared with me the importance of safeguarding your marriage and your family. I mean I just met this woman and I was so amazed that she took the time to share her wisdom with me.
She did not hold back and shared her heart. She told me in spite of the challenges she is thankful that she and her husband instilled strong values in her children and that she was so proud of her girls. She was also thankful that her daughters have each other as sisters and friends. She told me she was fortunate to have stayed home with her girls and that she used that opportunity to guide them through each stage of life. She even spoke a blessing into my life and prayed for me to experience the fullness of marriage and motherhood like she did and hope that I raise my girls in love, in wisdom and in truth.
Why Every Mom Needs A Mom Mentor is the reason why I listened with humility and a thankful heart knowing that this moment was God-ordained. I was so thankful for this woman who was taking the time to encourage me and impart her wisdom and experience with me. I thanked her and told her that I wish that more young wives or young mothers will experience what I have just experienced. I don’t know her name and I may never see her again but I pray that wherever she is that God rewards her for sharing with me the powerful impact of being a wife and a mother.
A lot of us trust God to teach us the things we don’t know but there is nothing like hearing God through a person who has walked that road and is reaping the fruit of their hard labor. Why Every Mom Needs A Mom Mentor has been so vital to my mom journey and exactly what I needed and when I needed it.
A couple of years ago one Fall, our youngest daughter experienced febrile seizures and I took it as a clue that she should definitely stay home and not go to preschool.
I woke up one morning with my mind made up to take her out of the school and have her stay at home with me. When I walked into the director’s office, she took one look at me and took both of us in a quiet place to talk. I was in tears with Babygirl hanging on my legs with dear life and she hugged both of us so tightly that I just felt like God was loving on me through her.
Why Every Mom Needs A Mom Mentor was the lifeline I needed when she spent more than an hour sharing her heart and wisdom about her motherhood journey. She reminded me that I was not alone but most importantly that nothing was wrong with me. She praised me for doing such an amazing job with my girls and encouraged me to be patient with the new season that Babygirl and I were in.
Why Every Mom Needs A Mom Mentor is simply the fact that this woman applied a healing balm on my aching heart and I know I can never repay her for that Titus 2:3-4 in action. When Babygirl and I left the office, I decided to be home with her for a week per her recommendation and she made me understand the importance of fighting some battles on my knees which I complied with a grateful heart.
Why Every Mom Needs A Mom Mentor is a turnaround I experience every time God works on another mom’s heart to add fuel to my mom tank. I am often reminded that we each have something to teach others and we should not sit on it but let God use us to empower others. There is truly no better feeling to be led to encourage another mom with the gift of our experience.
Why Every Mom Needs A Mom Mentor is me calling out all of us moms to rise and go about God’s business of imparting and relaying the wisdom we have acquired through various seasons of our life. We hold in our life experiences so much wisdom that will encourage and be the lifeline that one mom might need to gather enough strength and hope to keep going one more day. Let’s open our hearts and seek to build that thriving mom community we would like starting with one mom in our life!
