The WELLthy Mom Pull-Up Exercise

The WELLthy Mom Pull-Up ExerciseThe WELLthy Mom Pull-Up Exercise is one workout that has humbled me once I decided to incorporate it in my exercise routine.  I love listening to Shawn Stevenson’s podcast The Model Health Show.  In one episode, he mentioned that there are five exercises you need to create an amazing physique.  This busy mom of 3 was all ears. The five exercises consist of pushups, lunges, squats, deadlifts and pullups.  Planks have always been part of my workout routine so that makes six exercises for me.

I haven’t gone to the gym since the pandemic hit but I do not miss my daily 30 minutes jog or trail run, weather permitting.  Now that Spring is here, the rain hasn’t let up and it’s even harder to exercise outdoors so when the weather offers us some grace with some warm days, our family makes sure to take advantage of it.

WELLthy Moms Pull-Up ExerciseWe recently acquired an Iron Gym pull up bar when we were helping a friend move and now I realize that I do not have any excuses not to exercise.  After being home this week with the family fighting some type of pesky cold/sinus, it felt really good to hit the trail for some fresh air and I challenged myself to get acquainted with the pull up bar and Hubby aka my personal trainer had to show me the proper form. All I can say is that I am a work in progress. My motto is one workout at a time, one day at a time and a WELLthy mom for a lifetime.

The weekdays are so busy for our family that we do our best to set Saturday mornings asides for some family time.  We are intentional in including some type of physical activity for the entire family.  One of our favorite physical activity is an outdoor workout.  We love trail running.  We enjoy soccer together.  We love taking the girls to the playground.

The WELLthy Mom Pull-Up ExerciseThe playground is becoming a wonder-filled opportunity for our family because we sometimes challenge our girls to something similar to American Ninja Warrior and they love it.  One particular playground fun day, I realize that I can use the monkey bar for the WELLthy Mom Pull-Up Exercise.  I was so excited that I jumped right into it.  I realized quickly to go easy for this upper-body pull-up exercise because after three pull-ups, I gladly made room for my girls to enjoy the monkey bar.

Needless to say, I love to seize every opportunity to keep fit and I am amazed how good I feel afterwards.  Intentional WELLthy living requires me to be creative in my whole well-being lifestyle journey doing something every day that refuels me mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.  It’s not an easy road but so worth it because our family benefits from building healthy habits.

  1. I found your site when I was looking for exercises to help do more pull up/chin ups this year. I will look around more. I wish I could do the monkey bars like kids can do. They make it look so easy. 🙂
